Your Baby’s First Photo Shoot

As a newborn photographer on the Gold Coast, I feel truly privileged to be invited into your world to capture the precious moments of your baby’s early days. We all know that newborn babies only stay little for a little while. To capture this enchanting but fleeting stage, I recommend that you schedule your session in the first six – fourteen days of your little one’s life. This ensures that I can photograph those adorable sleepy, curly poses and gorgeous expressions that will translate into delightful images you’ll treasure forever.

So that your experience is enjoyable and completely relaxed, newborn photography sessions take place in the comfort of your home. These sessions have no set time restraints but generally last for around three hours. This is so we can take breaks for feeding, nappy changes and those must-have cuddles!

Do I need to supply my own accessories?

Before the session, we will have a consultation where we’ll discuss the props I have available and what colour schemes you prefer. I have various blankets, props and wraps, but I am also more than happy for you to use your own props if there is an item that is meaningful to you. This pre-session consultation usually happens via email or phone. This helps me get to know you better and ensures I’ll create images that are tailored to you.

Where do we take the photographs?

Newborn baby photography sessions are held in the comfort of your own home. I bring everything to you so you don’t have to worry about leaving the house. This way you can relax, be comfortable, and settle and feed your baby whenever you need to. Click here to read about the 5 benefits of having a newborn photography session in your home.

How long does the photo session take?

As a guide, newborn photography sessions usually last about three hours. We need plenty of patience as well as time for feeding and settling your baby.

When should I book a newborn session?

It’s best to book in your newborn baby photography session when you are still pregnant, but if your baby has already arrived, please call or email me and I will do my best to fit you in.

We’ll discuss all the details before your baby arrives, as I know things can get a little busy afterwards. I can schedule you in according to your due date or another handy idea is to simply add me to your baby announcement list and I’ll be in touch to confirm a convenient date.

When is the best time to photograph my newborn?

It’s best to photograph newborns when they are 6 to 14 days old to allow them to be posed safely in those sweet, curly positions. During their first two weeks, babies are usually very sleepy and happy to settle into poses. After 14 days babies become much more alert and less flexible, making it harder to pose them.

My baby is older than 14 days, can I still do a photography session?

Of course! I have photographed babies of all ages. We can still get some beautiful photos of your little one to capture how small they are right now. Being a little older, your baby might prefer to be wrapped for their session and will most likely be awake for most or all of their photoshoot.

When will I see my photos?

I know your baby is growing quickly, so your online gallery will be ready about two to three weeks after your session date. I will be in touch as soon as your gallery is ready and provide you with log-in details to see your beautiful images.
