Family Photography Sydney
Why Choose Custom Family Photography?
Custom family photography Sydney sessions are fun. Why? Because they’re created for just for your family. If you like to spend time at the beach – let’s go take some shots in the sand. Prefer the park? Let’s grab some fresh air! And if you’re more comfortable having the shoot in your home, we can do that, too. What better way to capture your family than just as they are?
This is your chance to create memories of your children while they’re still just that: children.
I understand that when you choose a custom photography session with me, you’re making an investment, so I’m committed to creating treasured memories for your family that will last lifetimes.
Before I grab my camera, I’ll discuss exactly what you’re looking for in your portraits. I want you to enjoy your photo session and have a range of shots that you love.
Once the photo shoot is finished, I’ll edit each image carefully to make sure you’re looking your best, without looking overworked.
The finished product is personalised artwork that you will cherish for a lifetime and become priceless as the years pass.
Family Photography Sessions FAQ
Where do we take the photographs?
Wherever you like! Family photography is fantastic both in and around your home or at a favourite beach or park. If you’re unsure where you’d like your photos taken I can suggest some great locations around Sydney that will suit your family.
Please note that travel fees may apply if you would like a family photography session to take place outside the Greater Western Sydney area.
How long does the family photography session take?
There is no strict timing, but as a guide family photography sessions usually last for about an hour. Family photography sessions are usually quite active – we’ll move around to a few areas and let the children play and run around.
What should we expect on the day?
The photo shoot itself will be very relaxed. I use only natural lighting, so may spend a few minutes scouting around for the best possible lighting and backdrops. My approach is casual, capturing mostly candid moments. Parents can be as involved as they like in the shoot but I find that the best photos usually occur when capturing genuine interactions and expressions without too much posing.
During the photography shoot we may move to a few different areas within the location so we get a variety of backgrounds in your shots.
Every session is unique – from fun or adventurous to quiet and reflective, your family will be captured beautifully and you’ll go home knowing you have images you will cherish.
What should we wear?
This is entirely up to you! You can be casual and relaxed or use this as an opportunity to get dressed up in your favourite clothes. To ensure you get the best photos, it’s recommended to avoid clothing that is plain white, or has logos, characters or lettering, as this will draw attention away from your face.
If you’re planning on having photographs with the whole family together, try to wear complementary colours. It is also good to bring along two to three outfits or clothing that can be layered to provide alternate looks. Ultimately, choose outfits that you all feel comfortable in.
Bring along anything that your child is into – a favourite toy, blanket or accessory will help them relax, enjoy the session and, most importantly, have fun! If your child wants to wear their tutu or red gumboots, that’s fantastic – it will all add to capturing the personality of your family.
Don’t forget the necessities! Be sure to pack anything your children usually need: nappies, wipes, drinks, snacks etc.
